Description
Sometimes with my characters, they're backstory isn't complete -or in most cases, is clearly nonexistent- without another person who was pivotal in their life. This is how Cripsin is for Eric, and I just discovered him in my most recent journey through my mind.
He came to Maine from England after surviving much of his life on his own, so he hates the crowdedness and overly rigid life at Dawkins. In fact, he plans to leave as soon as possible to go live with the only native tribe of satyrs left in the Americas, but of course, must wait for them to come closer to the region. Which of course, could be never.
Crispin really doesn't choose to be Erik's friend; it just sort of happens, especially since Erik is the weaker personality and is easy to pick on...however, he ends up leaving a much greater impact on Erik then he originally intended to, and in the end, it ends up hurting the both of them.
It helped explain to me why Erik is so cautious about who he involves himself with, why he gets a bad attitude in certain situations, why he interacts with Xan the way he does, etc. Thanks to him, not only does Erik make a lot more sense to me, but the concept of Saddie Talks to Flowers as a whole.
I appreciate it, man.
